Makhibaha Sabha Mahotsav in Tihu from Mar 13

Tihu, March 5: Full preparations are on to celebrate the historic 187th Makhibaha Sabha Mahotsav, a mega festival of lower Assam, with 9 day long programmes to be held at Makhibaha sabha khola of Nalbari district starting from March 13 under the aeiges of Makhibaha Gramonnyan Samiti.

The mega festival will formally inaugurated by Dilip Bora, professor of Modern Indian Language Science Department and Secretary of the post graduate classes, Gauhati University at 6 pm on March 13 .

The inaugural function will be chaired by Phanindra Nath Das, President, Gramonnyan Samiti and the programme will be graced by Nalbari DC Purabi Kowar, Dr Akhil Ranjan Dutta of Gauhati University as appointed speaker, Dr Madhab Ch Rajbanshi, Superintendent, Tezpur Medical College and Amonjit Kaur, SP Nalbari as distinguished guests.

The other programmes of the first day will be flag hoisting and lighting of lamps, drawing contest for primary students and felicitation function. The other programmes will include Bhagabat Path, Homjagya, Dhulia, Natyavinoy, Ayatir Nam, open quiz contest etc.

On the other hand, the cultural nite will be enthralled on March 13 and 21 by renowned singer Tarali Sarma and Partha Priyam repectively. Meanwhile, the President and the Secretary of Gramonnyan Samiti, Phanindra Nath Das and Ranjit Sarma have appealed to the public to actively participate like the previous years to make the mega event a success.
