Makhibaha Sabha Mahotsav from March 8

GUWAHATI, Feb 26 - The historic Makhibaha Sabha Mahotsav, the largest and oldest Sabha Mahotsav of Assam, will be celebrated at Makhibaha Sabha Khola with a nine-day colourful programme from March 8, a press release stated.

The Makhibaha Gramonnayan Samittee�s office bearers like Harish Ch Bhattacharjya president, Prasanna Kr Haloi and Surendra Nath Das vice-presidents, Jyotish Haloi, general secretary etc., have invited the people from across the State to participate in this great Sabha Mahotsav with great enthusiam like in previous years to make it a great success.

The first day�s programme will begin with flag hoisting by Harish Ch Bhattacharjya president, Gramonnayan Samittee followed by the lighting of lamp and garlanding on the martyr�s altar by Prasanna Kr Haloi and Surendra Nath Das respectively. At 10 am, a drawing competition among the students of primary level will be held. Dhirendra Nath Chakravartty, prominent journalist will formally inaugurate the Sabha Mahotsav at 6 pm.

The inaugural meeting to be presided over by Harish Ch Bhattacharjya will be attended by some distinguished persons like Manoranjan Das, MLA, Patacharkuchi, Dr Parag Kr Bhattarcharjya, distinguish literatteur and retired Principal, Bimala Prasad Chaliha College, Nagarbera. A felicitation programme will also be held in the meeting where Bhaben Pathak, prominent social worker and ex-president of the gramonnayan samittee and Rachik Chandra Sarma, a social worker and another ex-president of the gramonnayan samittee will be felicitated.

The other programmes of the remaining days will be Bhagawat paath, homjagya, dhulia, natyavinay, ayotir naam competition, nagara naam etc.

On March 8 at 9.30 pm, the cultural nite will be participated by distinguished singers Namita Bhattacharjya and Padmanav Bardoloi. Theatre Pargjyotish, the mobile theatre group will stage their drama on March 12, 13 and 14.
