JORHAT, March 9 - The Majuli district administration vide an order issued under Section 144 Cr PC has prohibited digging of Government land without obtaining permission from the administration.
An order issued by Additional Deputy Commissioner Chinmoy Nath stated that in view of reports of some anti-social elements digging land belonging to the Government for commercial purpose, thus causing destruction of the environment in the Brahmaputra river island, the administration with immediate effect has banned digging of Government land without taking prior permission from the district administration.
