Major reshuffle in Meghalaya bureaucracy

SHILLONG, Sept 3 - In a major reshuffle of the Meghalaya bureaucracy, East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Matsiewdor War Nongbri and 15 other senior officials have been transferred from their present posts.

The Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills has been transferred and posted as the Secretary of Information and Public Relations. In her place, Deputy Commissioner of South West Khasi Hills, Isawanda Laloo, was appointed as the new DC of East Khasi Hills.

The Secretary of Social Welfare Department, Caramai Kharkongor, has been posted as the new Deputy Commissioner of South West Khasi Hills district.

On the other hand, East Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner Frederick M Dopth has been transferred and posted as the Secretary, Textiles. In his place, the Secretary of the Meghalaya Urban Development Authority (MUDA), Ethelbert Kharmalki, would hold the charge as the DC of East Khasi Hills district.

Deputy Commissioner of North Garo Hills district, Sibhi Chakravarthy Sadhu, has been transferred and posted as the Director of Community and Rural Development.

In his place, RP Marak, the Additional Chief Electoral Officer, has been posted as the Deputy Commissioner of North Garo Hills district, subject to clearance by the Election Commission of India.

The Chief Electoral Officer of the Shillong Municipal Board, Batlang Samuel Sohliya, who is the Director of Information and Public Relations, will now take charge as the Secretary of MUDA.

The Joint Secretary, Urban Affairs, Gideon Kharmawphlang will additionally function as the Director of the Urban Affairs Department.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills, MB Tongper, has been posted at Nongpoh, while Extra Assistant Commissioner of Shillong, MA Challam, has been posted at Jowai.
