JALUKBARI, Oct 23 - A major fire broke out in a plastic scrap yard near the Gorchuk Police Station in the wee hours today. Fifteen fire tenders were pressed into service to contain the blaze.
Sources said firefighters managed to douse the leaping flames after three hours of effort.
Talking to The Assam Tribune, Anwar Ali Ansari, the owner of the plastic scrap yard, said, �The incident took place around 2.15 am when an electric post located near the godown caught fire due to short circuit and the flames from the post came in contact with some plastic materials in the godown. Within a few minutes, fire engulfed the entire godown, destroying about 10 to 15 lakh pieces of plastic items.� However, no one was injured in the incident.
