Major drug haul by BSF along Indo-Bangla border in Karimganj

SILCHAR, Sept 5 - In a major catch, the Border Security Force, Mizoram and Cachar Frontier, seized a huge consignment of drugs from the Indo-Bangladesh border in Karimganj district on Monday.

In a release issued to the media, BSF officials informed that based on secret inputs, jawans of the 7 battalion of BSF laid an ambush near the international border at Chandsrikona village of Karimganj district. During the operation, the BSF personnel spotted doubtful movement of two men, who were moving towards the international border.

The release further informed that after being chased by the BSF, the duo skipped through into the adjacent jungles in the dark. Later, two bags containing Yaba tablets and Gopal Zarda were recovered from the spot. The consignment is worth Rs 39, 14,400 in the international market. The pursuit in keeping a close vigil along the international border has yielded seizure of Yaba tablets, the market price of which is more than Rs 4 crore in the international market, a BSF spokesman claimed in the release.
