NAGAON, Sept 8 - Nagaon police led by officer in charge, Haiborgaon police outpost, SI A Rahman arrested two persons including the maid servant, involved in the sensational robbery at the residence of a retired engineer in Nagaon town on Saturday last.
According to police sources, the arrested persons have been identified as Forida Begum (19) and Ahmed Ali (42). Sources claimed that they were arrested from Paschim Shilongani and Shilongani Grant respectively. Ahmed Ali was arrested on Sunday night while the maid servant Forida Begum was arrested on early Monday morning. Police recovered two mobile handsets which were stolen by the gang of dacoits and the motorcycle (AS 02 U 9526) that was used in the robbery, from them.
During the interrogation, it was found that the real name of the maid was Forida Begum originally from Bihar who had introduced herself to the engineer�s family as Babita Pandit. Sources said that Forida Begum had already confessed to her crime and ascertained that it was an organised crime in which several people were involved. In her statement, it was recorded that the gang usually searched soft targets like the rich and old-aged isolated families and engaged her as maid and thereafter mixing poisonous drugs or other narcotics in their food, the other associates entered the house and looted cash and other valuables like gold ornaments, etc.
Meanwhile addressing a press conference held at Nagaon Sadar PS on Monday evening, Additional Superintendent of Police (HQ) Mohan Lal Meena urged the people of the town to provide details about any such people who come as maids or tenant to their house immediately to the local police or call 8724915419 for complete verification as well as to confirm their exact identities.
