GUWAHATI, June 12 � A forest guard was today killed allegedly by a mahout and his family members in Orang National Park after the former came to know of their alleged links with poachers in Udalguri district, reports PTI.
Park Divisional Forest Officer Sushil Daila said that the guard Hassan Ali was kidnapped by the mahout, his father, brother and a homeguard from Pachnoi No. 2 anti-poaching camp late last night.
On hearing two gun shots from near the camp early this morning, the patrolling forest guards recovered Ali�s body with two bullet injuries in his stomach.
The police have arrested the mahout, Tajuddin, his father and brother and the homeguard, Isha Haq Ali.
Hassan Ali had reportedly found out about Tajudddin and his family�s alleged links with poachers and encroachers and had stopped them from carrying out several operations.
