Mahim Bora�s death condoled

GUWAHATI, Aug 5 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has condoled the death of litterateur Mahim Bora saying that it has left a big void in the literary firmament of the State.

�We are deeply sad at the demise of the writer and his gem of creations like Ranga Jiya, Kathanibari Ghat, Rati Phula Phul etc., will continue to motivate and inspire the present and future generations of writers. He strode like a colossus on the literary firmament and his creations will continue to be the fountainhead of inspiration for generations to come,� said Sonowal adding that the illustrious son of the soil would be remembered for his honest writing and creating literary awareness among students.

The Chief Minister expressed his heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.

Minister for Cultural Affairs, Naba Kumar Doley paid his last respects to the noted litterateur at Dighalipukhuri on behalf of the Chief Minister. Fans and readers paid floral tribute to the mortal remains remembering his in-depth portrayal of life and relationships in his creations.

Meanwhile, the State government will bear all the medical expenses entailed during the treatment of the noted litterateur at a private hospital here.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Assam Pradesh, the AGP, AALA, Journalist Association of Assam, Press Club of Assam, MP Bhubaneshwar Kalita, AASU, and many other organizations have expressed grief at the demise of the author known for his simplicity of life and writing.
