NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Sept 24 -�Noted litterateur and Padma Shri awardee Mahim Bora and renowned poet-critic Nalinidhar Bhattacharya were remembered with talks on their major works here recently. Glowing tributes were also paid to the two literary stalwarts who passed away in quick succession recently.
A remembrance meeting called �Kathonibarighatat Nani��(Nani at Kathonibarighat) � referring to the famous short story, Kathonibarighat, by Mahim Bora and the poem,��Nani Achene Gharat,��by Nalinidhar Bhattacharya � was held at Lakhimpur Commerce College on September 19. The meeting was organised by the ICG Cell of the college in association with the Assamese Department and chaired by Dr Bhima Sen Behera, HoD, English, of the college. Mridushmita Hazarika, assistant professor of Assamese, delivered an in-depth lecture on Mahim Bora�s�Kathonibarighat�in the meeting.
The coordinator of the ICG Cell and columnist Sazzad Hussain spoke on Nalinidhar Bhattacharya�s familiar poem, �Nanai Achene Gharat,��in the meeting. Tilak Chandra Deka, HoD, Assamese, and Kuldeep Narayan Dutta, assistant professor of Political Science of the college, also spoke on the life and works of both the stalwarts of Assamese literature.
