IMPHAL, Jan 30 � Remembering Mahatma Gandhi�s death anniversary, Manipur today observed Martyrs� Day here today.
The function was attended by Manipur Governor Vinod Kumar Duggal and Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh.
The observance was marked by paying of floral tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and other martyrs who had sacrificed their lives in the freedom struggle of the country.
PTI adds: Meghalaya stood still for two minutes while floral tributes were paid to remember Mahatma Gandhi on his 66th death anniversary today.
Vehicles stopped in Shillong at 11 am as a siren rang to mark the beginning of the commemoration and rang again after two minutes to announce the end.
