MANGALDAI, Nov 20 - Maharashtra Minister of State for Agriculture, Sadabhau Khot, recently visited Darrang district along with a group of senior officials and farmers of his State with a daylong programme.
During his visit to the district, the Minister visited Bihudiya village near Kharupetia, known for mass vegetable production in the State. While interacting with the local farmers, he laid stresses on the need of abolishing the middleman in releasing the KCC loans so that the poor farmers could avail the maximum benefits of the scheme.
He also laid stress on the necessity of direct communication between the officials of the Agriculture and Marketing Department and the farmers of both the States as well as exchange of agricultural techniques for the betterment of the sector of both the States.
Giving a brief account of the benefits earned by the farmers of his State by engaging themselves in milk production, Khot urged the farmers of Assam to adopt livestock of high milk yielding varieties like their counterparts in Maharashtra.
