GUWAHATI, Jan 17 � Maharana Athletic Club sailed into the final of the Gauhati Town Club organised Ramesh Baruah Trophy Cricket Tournament.
In the thrilling semifinal played at the Judges� Field here today, Maharana edged past City Cricket Club by two runs.
Riding on two half centuries by Rahul Kumar (56) and Amit Sinha (50), Maharana amassed 206 all out in 38.1 overs in the 40-over match.
But, despite making a hot chase through Iqbal Ansari�s 64, City Cricket Club fell just two runs short of the target as they were restricted for 204 for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 40 overs.
Amit Sinha again came good with the red cherry after good show in batting and removed three City scalps which virtually enabled his team in clinching the encounter.
