GUWAHATI, Aug 1 - Maharana Athletic Club opened their account in the GSA A Division Football League defeating Narengi Sporting Club 3-1 at the Nehru Stadium here today.
The highlight of the match was a hat-trick by Maharana skipper Samujal Rabha who scored in the 26th, 48th and 81st minute. For Narengi Kailash Gogoi reduced the margin in the 52nd minute.
The Narengi boys created several openings throughout the course but failed to hit the back of the net.
The Maharana team took full advantage of the misunderstanding among the Narengi defenders and goal keeper and Samujal put the ball into the net keeping his cool inside the box.
