GUWAHATI, Jan 19 � Maharana Athletic Club clinched the title in the Ramesh Baruah Trophy Cricket Tournament with a 7-wicket victory against Gauhati Town Club (Sr).

In a low scoring final at the Judges� Field here today, the host team Gauhati Town Club were all out for a meagre total of 72 in 21.1 overs. Man-of-the-match Pritom Das took three wickets giving away just 15 runs while Nitin Das was Town�s main contributor with 37. Maharana smacked up 72 losing three wickets in just 9.3 overs. Diptesh Saha contributed 36 off 18 balls. Assam Ranji captain Abu Nechim Ahmed took two wickets for Town.

Niraj Tiwari of Maharana walked away with the man-of-the-series trophy while Bhaskar Handique and Abhinab Choudhury (both Town Sr) was awarded best batsman and best bowler awards. Rohan Dutta of Town Jr and Washiqur Rahman of Maharana got best fielder and best wicket keeper awards. In the closing function, GTC officials Joydeep Baruah, Devojit Saikia, Tonmoyjyoti Mahanta, Amarendra Nath, Bulbul Choudhury gave away the prizes.
