GUWAHATI, Sept 5 � The new AGP Legislature Party (AGPLP) leader and former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta today said that his priorities would be to help implement the party�s agenda besides facilitating induction of new blood into the party�s fold.
Interacting with the media following his election as the AGPLP leader last night,
Mahanta said that the in view of the ensuing assembly elections the party was working out strategies to reach out to the masses.
�We definitely have the assembly elections in mind, and are working out on appropriate strategies and stay connected to the masses,� he said.
Replying to a question that the AGP is often accused of shutting the door for new, prospective leaders, Mahanta said that the party was aware of the importance of injecting fresh blood and dynamism into it, and was preparing the grounds accordingly.
�We are not against new faces, as having new leaders is important for the party�s future. Our sister organizations are helping us in grooming prospective young leaders and we are also thinking on a special initiative for the purpose,� Mahanta said.
