GUWAHATI, Aug 31 - The proprietor of Asomiya Pratidin, Jayanta Baruah, has been honoured with the Mahabir Lachit Award by the Tai Ahom Yuva Parishad.
According to the president of the Yuva Parishad Dilip Gogoi, the award will be presented to Baruah on November 24 at a function to be organised at the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, Panjabari here on the occasion of Lachit Divas.
Baruah has been chosen for the award because of his contribution to the society by highlighting regional issues through the popular Assamese daily, Gogoi added. The award includes a turban, a chapkon and a citation, among others.
