GUWAHATI, March 25 � The birth anniversary of Lord Mahavir would be celebrated at the Digambar Jain Temple on the SRCB Road, Fancy Bazar, with a three-day programme from�March 31 to April 2.
The Shri Digambar Jain Panchayat, in a statement, said that preparations for the celebration of the holy event were going on in full swing, and that the celebrations would reaffirm the greatest contribution of Lord Mahavir � the concept of non-violence to all the living beings.
The highlight of the programmes on�March 31�is a cultural function to be organised by the Digambar Jain Mahila Samity from 6 pm. The programmes on April 1 would begin at 6 am with prabhat pheri from Shri Digambar Jain Temple. On April 2 at 9 am, a huge cultural procession would be taken out from the Shri Digambar Jain Temple to Shri Mahavir Jain Bhawan on AT Road via various thoroughfares of the city. At 11.30 am the same day, religious programmes such as worshipping, kalabhishek and others would take place. A special aarati programme would be held at the Shri Temple at 6 pm.
Besides these, there would be a religious prayer meeting where the main agenda would be to pray for world peace and communal harmony.
