AGARTALA, June 23 - The Tripura Government has ordered a magisterial-level inquiry into the unnatural death of an undertrial prisoner, Sajaio Mog, in the Amarpur Subdivisional Jail of Gomati district.
Opposition leader Manik Sarkar and Pradesh Congress Committee president Pijush Kanti Biwas had separately visited the victim�s house located at a remote village under the Amarpur subdivision. Both leaders had demanded a judicial probe into the death of the prisoner in the jail.
Sensing trouble, the State Government has ordered a magisterial inquiry and an official order has already been sent to the District Magistrate of Gomati, TK Debnath, to conduct the probe.
Inspector General Aditi Majumder conveyed the message about the Government�s decision, said an official here today.
Meanwhile, the Tripura Human Rights Organization has also demanded a judicial inquiry into the death of the undertrial prisoner in the Amarpur jail. It has also demanded adequate compensation to the family.
