By Correspondent

TURA, June 5 The ban on the sale of Nestles Maggi noodles came into effect in West Garo Hills district today.

We had a few cartons in stock but stopped sale of the product ever since the news broke out of Maggi not being good enough for human consumption, said a shop keeper here.

PTI adds from Gangtok: Amid a row over high quantity of lead and MSG in Nestles Maggi noodles, the Sikkim Government today said it has sent samples of the instant food as well as two other popular snacks to a Public Health Laboratory at Guwahati for tests.

The State Government has advised public to refrain from consuming Maggi noodles as a precautionary measure.

Aizawl: Mizoram Government will take a decision on banning Maggi noodles only after receiving directions from the Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI).

Joint Director (Food and Drugs) of the State Health department Lalsawma said that the Centre had not issued any instruction to the Mizoram Government except to take precautionary measures even as some States have banned Maggi instant noodles.

Meanwhile, the State Government has banned import and sale of four energy drinks following instructions from the FSSAI, he said.

The State Food Safety Commissioner issued an order yesterday banning energy drinks like Monster, Tzinga, Cloud 9 pomegranate/grape and Akoarama.
