GUWAHATI, Dec 26 � The Sattradhikar of Madhupur Sattra of Coochbehar, Phatik Chandra Dev Hazarika, has been seriously ill for about a week.
A Sattra official said that it was difficult for the Sattra with is meagre resources to arrange for proper treatment of the 86-year-old Sattradhikar who is undergoing treatment at Coochbehar following severe diabetes-related complications.
�We solicit help from the Assam Government and the people so that we can take Dev Hazarika to Guwahati for better treatment,� he said.
Dev Hazarika who hails from Jakhalabandha in Nagaon district, joined the Madhupur Sattra set up by saint Srimanta Sankardev in 1955 and has since been serving it in the capacity of Sattradhikar.
