NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Sept 23 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today presented the Madhabdev Awards, for the year 2016 and 2019.
In a public function organised by Directorate of Cultural Affairs and the Lakhimpur district administration which was held at Narayanpur HS School playground, the Chief Minister presented the 2016 award to noted Satriya exponent Satradhikar Jugadananda Chandra Goswami and for 2019 to Padma Shri Dr Sunil Kothari, noted Indian dance historian, scholar and critic.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by the State Education Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya, Culture Minister Naba Kumar Doley, Minister of Handloom and Textile Ranjit Dutta, Tezpur MP Pallab Lochan Das, Bihpuria MLA Debananda Hazarika and Lakhimpur MLA Utpal Dutta.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated the Madhabdev University at the same venue in Narayanpur today. Later in the evening, he inaugurated the Bodosa Football Tournament at Bihpuria Sports Association Field, in Bihpuria, organised by the Assam Football Association. Later, he also inaugurated the newly-built North Lakhimpur Sadar Police Station in North Lakhimpur.
