Madhabadeva Bota presented to Devoraj Sapkota

UDALGURI, May 21 - The prestigious Madhabadeva Bota, second in importance after the coveted Sankaradeva Bota, was ceremoniously presented to Devoraj Sapkota, president of Udalguri Zila Sahitya Sabha, which is the district unit of Asam Sahitya Sabha at Sundaridiya Satra in Barpeta on May 20 in sync with the three-day celebration of 530th Abirbhav Mahotsav of Mahapurush Madhabadeva.

The award carries a commendation certificate, a phulam japi, a seleng sador and a cash award of Rs 10,000.

Satradhikar Jagannath Dev Adhikari of Sundaridiya Satra in Barpeta district, Dhireswar Bayan, secretary of Satra Parichalana Samiti presented the award to Sapkota for his stellar contribution to Satriya art and culture by way of translating Kirtanghosa, Gunamala, Borgeets and Bhakti Pradeep by Mahapurush Sankaradeva, and Naamghosa by Mahapurush Madhabadeva into Nepali language.

Nirmal Adhikari, Deka Satriya of Sundaridiya Satra of Barpeta and Rosy Devi Bhuyan, reputed singer enthralled the audience with Borgeets in Assamese and Nepali respectively.

Gunin Das, MLA of Barpeta LAC was also present on the occasion.

Udalguri Zila Sahitya Sabha and Udalguri Sahitya Sabha congratulated Sapkota for his unique achievement.
