Lumding station yard remodelled

GUWAHATI, Nov 26 - The entire Lumding railway station yard was recently remodelled by the Lumding Division of NF Railway in tandem with the recently completed gauge conversion work of the Lumding-Silchar section, an NFR press release stated.

The entire remodelling work was completed smoothly within a record time, without interfering with the running train traffic.

Prior to gauge conversion, Lumding railway yard had both BG and MG yards. MG yard had passenger as well as freight handling and transshipment facilities. MG passenger yard had one island platform, one end platform, one stabling line and one washing-cum-pit line along with Sick line complex.

In the BG yard in the station, there were three platforms, one freight through line and two spurs for accident relief train and accident relief medical equipment van. Besides there was a BG reception & despatch yard, one IOC siding taking off from the main line and a transshipment yard.

After completion of the remodeling work, there is a central Visual Display Unit with Electronic Interlocking with a spread of about 2.3 km. All other cabins have been done away with. There are 10 lines in the BG yard with provision of five platforms, three Reception and Despatch through lines.
