LS candidates in Meghalaya have no criminal record

SHILLONG, March 29 - All the nine candidates in the fray for the Tura and Shillong Lok Sabha seats in Meghalaya have no criminal records registered against them and most of them have higher education degrees.

In the Tura seat, all the three candidates are graduates or have higher education. There are six candidates vying for the Shillong seat. Three of these candidates have higher and technical education, while three are class 12 pass.

Jemino Mawthoh of United Democratic Party holds a doctorate degree in Philosophy.

Independent candidate, THS Bonney holds a Master�s degree in Mathematics.

The Congress candidate and the sitting MP of Shillong seat, Vincent H Pala holds a Bachelor�s degree in Engineering.

However, the other candidates, BJP�s Sanbor Shullai and Romeo Phira Rani and Sameul Hashah (Independents) are 12 class pass.

For the Tura seat, NPP�s Agatha Sangma holds a Master�s degree in Environment Management. Mukul Sangma holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree.

The BJP candidate Rikman Garrey Momin holds a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

When it comes to the millionaires� list, the richest is Vincent H Pala of the Congress. He has assets worth over Rs 40 crore.

Second on the list is the BJP candidate Sanbor Shullai, having assets worth over Rs 5 crore. The next richest candidate is Congress� Mukul Sangma, who is fighting for the Tura Lok Sabha seat. He has assets worth over Rs 3 crore.

Close to Mukul Sangma, Agatha Sangma also has assets worth about Rs 3 crore. The other candidates having assets over a crore are THS Bonney, Jemino Mawthoh and Romeo Phira Rani (Independent.)

Only Rikman G Momin of the BJP and Sameul Hashah (Independent) has assets worth less than a crore.
