LPG consumers decry shifting of registration

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Nov 3 - Consumers of Blue Flame Gas Agency on the RG Baruah Road have expressed their indignation over the shifting of their registration from Blue Flame to Navajyoti Gas Agency, Hatigarh, in an arbitrary manner and without being given any proper notice.

Commenting on the developments, public activist Prof Deven Dutta said the consumers simply received an sms on their cell-phones stating that their agency had been changed to Navajyoti agency for administrative convenience.

This is absurd and arbitrary. There was no plausible reason given nor was there any mention of proper address of the agency concerned. This is not the manner in which a government-run enterprise is supposed to function, he said.

S Ray, a consumer from Sreenagar area, said that he along with many other consumers was caught unawares following the sudden development and that it caused them a lot of inconvenience.

First, the consumers should have been intimated well ahead of such a development. And the procedure and manner of transfer should have been transparent and hassle-free. One fine morning we are told that we will have to get LPG cylinders from another agency. We did not even know where exactly it was located, Ray said.

Ray added that distance to the new agency is another issue. The Blue Flame agency was close to our residences; now we will have to endure hardships in accessing the new agency, he said.
