NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Sept 9 - Free cooking gas connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujala Yojana, the flagship programme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to women belonging to BPL families, were distributed among beneficiaries in Dejoo Tea Estate of Lakhimpur district on Monday.
The scheme which was implemented under the PMUY-II phase, LPG connections were distributed among 104 beneficiaries belonging to workers of the tea estate. A distribution function was organised on the occasion at the office of Dejoo Tea Estate which was attended by the Senior Manager of the garden Dhrubajyoti Baruah, Inspector of Food and Civil Supplies, Lakhimpur, Pranjeet Sarma, columnist Sazzad Hussain and proprietors of the partnering LPG agency BB Indane from Panigaon, Bobbeeta Borah and Jayanta Borah.
Speaking on the occasion, Jayanta Borah of BB Indane, Panigaon, explained the PMUY scheme among the beneficiaries and stressed on the importance of smokeless kitchen.
The meeting was also addressed by Dhrubajyoti Baruah, Manager of Dejoo Tea Estate. Safety demonstration about the use of LPG cooking systems were also presented on the occasion. The beneficiaries were presented a filled LPG cylinder, a burner, a pipe, a regulator and a lighter each.
