GUWAHATI, Dec 19 - Dr Anuradha Sarma, general secretary of the Asomiya Sahitya Sanmilani, in a press release, stated that Loknath Goswami has been nominated as the president for the forthcoming 2019-2021 session of the Sanmilani. Being the first candidate in the list submitted by the nomination committee set up by the steering committee of the Sanmilani, Goswami gave his consent to a formal proposal forwarded by Dr Dilip Kumar Datta, outgoing president of the Sanmilani, on Monday.
Dr Sarma further stated that the decision to nominate Goswami to the post of president has been unanimously accepted by all district committees of the organisation. She expressed the hope that the democratic and progressive leadership of Goswami would motivate all members of the Sanmilani to work towards launching a mass literary movement.
The general secretary added that the fourth convention of the Asomiya Sahitya Sanmilani would be held at Shilpgram here from January 29 to 31 next. As part of the convention, a special segment called �Sahitya Aalap� will be held. Dr Sarma has urged all district and branch committees of the literary organisation to work in right earnest for the success of the event, and requested them to give more emphasis on the formation of regional committees in place of the district and branch committees.
