GUWAHATI, Oct 6 - Deputy Leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha Gaurav Gogoi today met KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and inquired about the latter�s health.
The incarcerated KMSS leader is currently undergoing treatment at the GMCH.
�I keep coming to the GMCH as my father and senior Congress leader Tarun Gogoi is also admitted here. It is Tarun Gogoi himself who told me to visit Akhil Gogoi and inquire about his health. Despite political differences, Tarun Gogoi thinks very highly of Akhil Gogoi,� said Gaurav Gogoi.
He added that no political discussion took place during his visit to meet Akhil Gogoi.
�He has been either in jail or in hospital for such a long time now. We are all worried about his family as well. We may have ideological differences with Akhil Gogoi, but we do not have anything against him at the personal level. There is a political conspiracy to keep Akhil Gogoi incarcerated, just like there is a conspiracy in Bihar to keep Lalu Prasad Yadav inside prison till the Bihar Assembly elections are over,� Gaurav Gogoi said.
Asked about the newly floated Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) and the Raijor Dal, Gaurav Gogoi said, �All these newly formed parties have emerged from the bosom of the anti-CAA agitation. We welcome their formation. But it is up to them to decide what course of action they want to take.�
He, however, said that people of Assam want unity among all the anti-BJP forces.
MP Gogoi also claimed there are many leaders within both the BJP and AGP who are upset with the functioning of the present government. He further said that a judicial inquiry is needed to get to the bottom of the SI recruitment scam. �The BJP patronizes people who engage in scams. But the real question is, who has the remote control?� he said.
