GUWAHATI, June 23 - The lockdown announced today in some wards of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) will not affect railway services.

However, offices of many departments at the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) headquarters at Maligaon, barring offices of essential services like control and signalling, will remain closed during the lockdown period.

Railway offices and persons directly linked with the operation of passenger and goods trains are allowed to operate. Other offices will remain closed. All officers and staff have been directed to make themselves available on the telephone and other electronic means of communications at all times and they shall work from home.

It has been directed that no railway staff shall leave the station or their place of residence under any circumstances without the prior specific approval of their controlling officer, said Nripen Bhattacharya, Public Relations officer of NFR.
