Lockdown in Kaziranga begins

KAZIRANGA, March 24 - As the countdown for complete lockdown in Assam started, people of Kaziranga moved hurriedly towards their respective residences after completing their daily works.

Bokakhat civil administration headed by Sub Divisional Officer (Civil), Vivek Shyam has, in the meantime, appealed to all the residents of the subdivision to remain indoors till March 31 through a video clip. He suggested that people should not move out to nearby localities without any valid reason. He appealed to all to help the government in fighting coronavirus till March 31, adding that government was very concerned for the general health of common people.

However, sources said that essential outlets like pharmacy, grocery shops and petrol pumps will remain open to meet the requirements during the lockdown in the State.

Papu Choudhary, a naturalist and a birding guide in Kaziranga said that lockdown is a good step taken by the government and this would help in blocking the spread of coronavirus in the State to a good extent.
