Lockdown guidelines violated

By ANN Service

GOSSAIGAON, April 17 - Though the government has been pleading time and again to the people to obey the lockdown and social distancing guidelines as a precautionary measure against the coronavirus pandemic, people here have not been responding to the repeated appeals.

Huge gatherings and long queues were seen in front of the Assam Gramin Vikash Bank, customer service points of the SBI and cooking gas cylinder booking counters at Gossaigaon on Friday.

People formed long queues, ignoring the lockdown and social distancing, in front of the Assam Gramin Vikash Bank after they were informed that the bank was paying Rs 500 to each beneficiary having zero balance accounts under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana.

Though police personnel were deployed, no action was taken against the lockdown violators.
