Lockdown extended in East Garo Hills

TURA, June 10 - District Magistrate of East Garo Hills Swapnil Tembe has extended the lockdown and night curfew in the district under Section 144 of the CrPC and Regulation 3 of the Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases, COVID-19 Regulations, 2020 from 5 am today till 5 am on June 14.

During this period, weekly and regular markets, tea and food stalls, salons, beauty parlours, commercial, financial and educational institutions will remain shut.

Movement of private vehicles, except those with valid car passes and those under exempted categories; movement of individuals between 9 pm and 5 am; gathering of five or more persons in public places; movement of persons above 65 years of age and with co-morbidities, pregnant women, children below 10 years of age, etc., have been barred. Wearing of masks and maintaining social distance at public places and offices were also made mandatory.

Shops selling groceries, vegetables, meat, fruits, milk, animal feeds, agricultural machinery, stationery items, mobile phones, computers and accessories, wholesalers, hardware and electrical shops, motor repairing workshops, dry cleaners, travel agencies, and liquor shops will remain open from 8 am to 2 pm.

Public transport in the district will be regulated by the District Transport Officer and 50 percent vehicles will be allowed to operate with 50 percent capacity.
