Locals to foil any bid to disrupt Patanjali

By Correspondent

TEZPUR, Nov 17 - At a time when thousands of unemployed youths are keeping their hopes alive of getting jobs in the Patanjalis Mega Herbal Food Park at AIDC Complex (Ghoramari) near Balipara in Sonitpur district, a section of unscrupulous people with vested interest are allegedly hampering the works of the entire project.

Since the foundation stone laying day of the mega project by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonwal on November 6, some outsiders are allegedly disrupting the construction works of the Patanjali unit here. The mega project has targetted to start its production within 100 days. However, it is uncertain whether the unit will be operational in due time because of the alleged disturbance by some politically-motivated people, the locals alleged.

Its worth mentioning that the industrial growth centre in the area covering around 1,450 bighas of land was set up with an objective tos sconvert it into a growth engine for generating employment during the first tenure of the AGP regime. The people living near the project site also donated their land to the Government. However, apart from the construction of its boundary wall, nothing has happened to the project site.

Social worker of the area, Deben Narjary, said that the local people of the area, particularly the Bodos, had donated their land for the said project with the hope of employment growth through industrial units in the area.

Since its inception, several companies came and went due to the rumour of insurgency threat, intentionally spread by a section of negative-minded people. The entire effort came a cropper due to lack of proper policy of the department concerned. Though a pharmaceutical company named Nixle initially started a project at the site for producing medicine, within no time it closed down. However, amid these challenges, internationally-acclaimed companies like Dabur India Limited and Patanjali have started their plants in the industrial complex targeting a sizeable amount of annual production, besides generating job opportunities for local youths, Narzary said.

This time, for the execution of the big budget project, the local people have been cooperating with the company so that the unscrupulous people coming from outside cannot hinder the upcoming project of Patanjali, he added. The locals have already formed a committee called Ghoramari Unemployed Youth Association taking all the local unemployed youths to extend all sorts of help to the project. Only because of us Dabur India Limited has almost successfully completed their work and shortly they will start their production. Likewise, we are sincerely cooperating with Patanjali too, so that without any disturbance they can carry out their project work, Narzary said.
