JORHAT, Nov 9 - The Majuli district administration has declared November 11 (Monday) a local holiday in the Brahmaputra island on the ocassion of the three-day Raas festival to be starting from Monday.
A press note issued by the Majuli district administration this evening stated the District Magistrate, by an order passed today, has declared a local holiday in the river island district on Monday in view of Raas festivity.
All Government and PSU offices, court educational institutes, banks will remain closed as per the DM,'s order, the note said.
The note further stated that the order also mentioned that as per the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, the local holiday will be applicable on all shops and business establishments in Majuli.
