Local holiday for Nalbari Raas declared

NALBARI, Nov 19 - District Magistrate Ananta Lal Gyani in an order has declared a local holiday on November 21 on account of ongoing Raas festival of Nalbari Sri Sri Harimandir which got under way from November 14 with thirteen days programme.

On the day all the State Government offices, educational institutions, district court will remain closed in the district.

Meanwhile, thousands of devotees thronged the Nalbari Harimandir premises to witness the famous Raas Mahotsav. More than 800 clay models are being displayed at Nalbari Raas Mahotsav which has been attracting the visitors. Visits of thousands of people everyday have transformed the tiny town into a sea of humanity. The spectacles of electric light also add to the glitteratiion of the town. The colourful cultural programmes at night also enthrall the visitors. The Raas celebration committee expects that the flow of visitors will increase more from Monday as nine mobile theatre groups will start performing at Nalbari Raas. However, the ban of the currency adversely affected the Raas Mahotsav.
