GUWAHATI, May 29 - Little Star English School and Assam Jatiya Vidyalaya won their respective matches of the 12th All Assam Inter School Prize Money Cricket Tournament for the Dhan Sena Memorial Trophy at the Latasil Playground here on Sunday.
In the first match of the day, Little Star English School got the better of Don Bosco, Sonaighuli by two wickets. Electing to bat, Don Bosco were all out for a paltry 64 runs in 14 overs with Ankul Singh scoring 16 runs while Deepak Kr Yadav contributed 13 runs. Shyam Pandit was the pick of the bowlers with a haul of three wickets for 7 runs in 2 overs while Abhisek Jha and Ishant Singh bagged two wickets each.
In reply, Little Star School got past the target losing eight wickets in 11 overs. Abhisek Jha top scored with 20 runs. Omprakash Shah and Sanjeet Singh claimed two wickets each giving.
In another match, Assam Jatiya Vidyalaya trounced Axom Vidya Mandir by 83 runs. Put into bat, Assam Jatiya Vidyalaya piled up 162 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their stipulated 20 overs. Biraj Patgiri was the top scorer with 51 runs while Hirakjyoti Sarma and Hirakjyoti Choudhury contributed 29 and 19 runs respectively. Kishu Rabha and Sagar Kr Sha picked up three wickets each while Pritom Saha took one wicket.
Chasing the target, Axom Vidya Mandir could only manage 79 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs with Hillol Kalita top scoring with an unbeaten 23 runs. Sagar Kr Sha contributed 10 runs. Bikash Deka was the pick of the bowlers for Assam Jatiya Vidyalaya with figures of three for 11 in his quota of 4 overs.
