Literary award to Nilamoni Sen Deka

GUWAHATI, Dec 13 � Minister Nilamoni Sen Deka has been named as the winner of the Padmabhusan Benudhar Sarma Literary Award, 2011for his works in the areas of historical research and literature. The award has been instituted by the socio-cultural organisation Abhinaya in collaboration with the Benudhar Sarma Literary Award Committee.

Announcing this, Abhinaya has stated in a statement here that the award would be presented to Deka by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi at a function scheduled for December 17 at the Rabindra Bhawan here. The award consists of a citation, a souvenir and a cash amount of Rs 50,000.

Deka has two short story collections � Taik Amoni Nakaribo and Geetali eta Geet, two compilations of articles � Kalakram- volumes I & II, two compilations of humanitarian essays � Manuhar maje maje volume I & II, historical research works � Bidhan Sabhar Majiat Bishnuprasad Rava, Dr Bhupen Hazarika, Assam Bidhan Sabhar Barnil Adhyay, Asamar Uttaranar Itihas, Manik Chandra Barua aru Byabasthapak Sabha, Mitha Chenir Tita Katha, Nishidha Itihas, The Times of Assam and The Advocate of Assam, among others. He is now working on A Journey of an unknown English man to the Hukong Valley.
