Literary award to Kabin Phukan

NAGAON, April 24 � The Krantikal Sahitya Sanman, which was instituted by Krantikal Prakashan, a leading publisher of the State, was formally awarded to well-known poet and critic Kabin Phukan.

Handing over the award, Sahityacharyya Mahim Bora recalled how literary activities started at Nagaon under the able guidance of then Principal of Nowgong College Jagyeswar Sharma. He thanked Krantikal Prakashan for instituting such an award and also praised Dr Phukan for his sterling literary contribution.

Accepting the award, Dr Phukan recalled his association with Nagaon. He recited some poems of Late Jagyeswar Sharma as well as his own, both original and translated. Dr Phukan disclosed at the meet that he nurtures a dream to publish a book on translated poems with original works.

The president of Nagaon Sahitya Sabha Dr Naren Kalita was on the chair.

Dr Ajit Bharali, a budding literary talent, presented a critical discussion on the poems of Dr Kabin Phukan, while Pradip Saikia recited a poem composed by Dr Phukan.

In that function, the second volume of Asamar Loka Sanskriti authored by Chao Lokeswar Gogoi was also released. Former president of Asam Sahitya Sabha Dr Lakshminandan Bora formally released the book. He also praised the works of Gogoi.

Retired Principal Pradip Saikia and historian Dr Rajen Saikia attended the function as appointed speaker and honourable guest respectively.
