List of APCC office-bearers finalised

By Spl Correspondent

NEW DELHI, May 8 Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, APCC president Anjan Dutta and AICC general secretary Dr CP Joshi today held a meeting to give a final shape to the list of PCC office-bearers.

The meeting, held at Assam Bhavan, also saw the Chief Minister short-list the ministers proposed to be inducted soon.

Emerging from the meeting, Dr Joshi said they met and finalised the list of PCC office-bearers and executive.

Anjan Dutta said that the new team of office-bearers would have several new faces and representatives of smaller tribal groups and community, besides the minority community. He said the team would oversee the Assembly elections due next year.

Meanwhile, sources said that according to new guidelines, general secretaries would have to give an undertaking that they would not seek tickets in the Assembly election and instead work for the party.

While several of the leaders are reported to have opted out, some have reportedly shown their willingness to sign such an undertaking, said sources.

The list, which is likely to be released by AICC after Congress president Sonia Gandhis approval, is keenly awaited by partymen. Part of the suspense is because of the apprehension that Anjan Dutta may not take any member from Himanta Biswa Sarmahs faction to please the Chief Ministers camp.
