GUWAHATI, Sept 9 - On the occasion of the Eye Donation Awareness Fortnight, Lions Club of Gauhati felicitated the family members of 40 eye donors at its Gauhati Lions Eye Hospital auditorium this evening.
Fifteen different organisations are participating in the eye donation awareness programme, with eminent personalities from different walks of life promoting the cause of eye donation.
�Eye donation awareness campaign is a permanent project of Lions Club of Gauhati and with the increase in awareness among the public, the club has also taken a decision to open an Eye Bank in its Gauhati Lions Eye Hospital, where corneal blindness will be treated by replacing the damaged cornea with a healthy donated human cornea,� a Lions Club spokesperson said.
