Lions Club donates 28 dwelling houses at flood-affected Bali

NALBARI, Oct 8 - The Lions Club, Guwahati under its new scheme �Aanchal� constructed 28 dwelling houses in the flood-affected area of Bali near Kaithalkuchi in Nalbari district. The houses were formally dedicated to the poor families at a function held at the Bali Kali Mandir auditorium today.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Chayanika Thakuria in presence of the members of the Lions Club, Guwahati formally distributed the nameplates among the owners of the houses. Earlier, Thakuria and another guest Kailash Lohia dedicated a waiting shed constructed on the Bali Kali Mandir premises under its social responsibility programme.

The hand tube well installed on the premises was dedicated to the public by Lion Pradip Barech. The Lions Club, Guwahati initiated a good number of developmental projects at the flood-affected areas, which was highly appreciated by the local public.

In the welcome speech, Kishore Saboo, the president of the Lions Club, said the Lions Club, Guwahati has newly constructed and renovated 28 dwelling houses at Bali area in Nalbari district under the scheme �Aanchal�.

The village was adversely affected by floods and a good number of families rendered homeless. The Lions Club, Guwahati for the first time under the new scheme adopted the village, he added.

The meeting presided over by Saboo was addressed by Chayanika Thakuria, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kailash Lohia, member of the Lions Club, Guwahati, Sushil Kumar Jain, programme chairman of Aanchal, among others.
