Lifetime Achievement award to four

GUWAHATI, Dec 4 - The Jeewan Ram Mungi Devi Goenka Memorial Public Charitable Trust has chosen veteran actress Arati Barua, seasoned audiographer Satish Chouhan, senior film production assistant Arun Das and noted singer-musician Lou Majaw for its Lifetime Achievement Award for this year. The awards will be presented to the four veteran artistes at a function, scheduled to be held at the Machkhowa Pragjyoti-ITA Centre for Performing Arts here at 5 pm on December 6.

Disclosing this in a statement, the Trust also said that the ninth JRMDG Memorial Lecture will be delivered this year by Ratan Thiyam, who is regarded as one of the most outstanding theatre personalities of Asia. He will speak on the topic, �My Journey in Theatre.� Noted cinema actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha will be the chief guest of the function.

Moreover, Gauhati University Vice Chancellor Dr Mridul Hazarika will also be present on the occasion as the guest of honour and he will ceremonially release the second edition of Unicornis � The Great Indian One-Horned Rhinoceros, written by eminent author Arup Kumar Dutta. It may be mentioned here that Arup Dutta will also be present at the December 6 Machkhowa function.

The Trust will also felicitate a batch of persons of eminence on the occasion. They include veteran journalist Premadhar Sarma, seasoned writer-social activist Kapoor Chand Jain and Vinayak Saraf, national award winning film directors Suraj Kumar Dowarah, Hemanta Kumar Das and producer Manabendra Adhikary, noted painter-sculptor Mohini Hazarika and Kolkata-based filmmaker Asis Kumar Das.
