GOLAGHAT, Aug 14 - On the occasion of the World Nature Conservation Day and the birth anniversary of Padmashri Dr Robin Banerjee, Parbati Barua, well-known as Hasti Kanya, was awarded lifetime achievement award for her works in conservation and preservation of flora and fauna.

The award was presented on Tuesday by the NGO, Kaziranga Wildlife Society, Guwahati, in a function held at the Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya in Golaghat. The function was jointly organised by the Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya and the NGO, with a day-long programme.

The programme included a welcome speech delivered by Achintya Goswami, principal of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Golaghat, and felicitation of guests, among others.

A memorial lecture on Padmashri Dr Robin Banerjee was delivered by Dharanidhar Boro, ACF, KNP. Wildlife photographer Debarshi Gogoi, Digboi, also participated in the discussion.
