Lifer rearrested, suicide drama fails

NAGAON, Nov 23 - Unveiling the mist over a several-months-old suicide drama, Nagaon Police today arrested a prisoner who was convicted earlier for a murder case and was sentenced to life imprisonment. Interestingly, nearly five months ago, Kampur Police had recovered his suicide note, his garments and his scooter near a concrete bridge over the Kopili river at Kampur.

According to sources, Jyotiprashad Bora of Kampur was convicted in a murder case and sentenced to life imprisonment several months ago. He went home from Nagaon jail on leave for 20 days on June 19 last and during the period of leave, one day Kampur Police recovered his scooter, a suicide note and some of his belongings like garments and other things.

Considering it to be a suicide, Kampur Police and other special forces launched search operations for his body in Kopili river. But even after several drives conducted in the river and elsewhere, the police could not trace out his body. The local people had assumed the entire episode as just a suicide. But the police had its own suspicions carried out a special investigation into the incident.

Kampur Police was finally able to track that Bora was living at Raha Mohgarh, following which he was nabbed.
