Life skills camp at Sishu Sarothi

GUWAHATI, Oct 13 - A two-day camp concluded at Sishu Sarothi today, where children were taught through various activities like scavenger hunt, therapeutic art session, zumba, gender inclusive football, and children movie screening.

This initiative was part of the English Access Microscholarship Program by US Consulate, which is being held for the first time in the North-east. It is a two-year sponsored programme where children are taught various life skills together with English. It includes physically and economically challenged students aged between 13 and 20 years.�

The camp was initiated to bring in innovative methods to teaching, challenging traditional mode of instruction and curriculum-based learning. The different activities were designed keeping in mind topics like team spirit building, personality development, sensitization on gender issues and sensitization on disability.

The mode of instruction was English and sessions were taken by Access teachers � Sonal Roshan, Intibah Murtafi and Rekha Sharma.
