Licences of 3 fair shop dealers suspended

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Jan 8 - Acting tough against unscrupulous traders, the Kamrup Metro district administration has suspended licences of three Fair Price Shop dealers and directed the Food and Civil Supplies department to file FIRs against them for alleged misappropriation of subsidized foodgrains.

Two of the dealers are from the Fatasil Ambari locality while another is from Jaya Nagar locality of the city.

Inspection by officials found that the dealers were engaged in misappropriation of subsidized rice allotted under the National Food Security Act and in selling them on the open market, thus depriving legitimate NFSA beneficiaries, as per separate orders issued by the district administration.

The licences of all the three dealers have been placed under immediate suspension. The district administration has also directed the Superintendent of the Food, Civil Supply and Consumer Affairs of Kamrup Metro to file FIRs against the traders and submit compliance report of the matter.
