SILCHAR, Aug 7 - The Life Insurance Corporation of India, Silchar Divisional Office recently organised the eastern zonal chess tournament here.

Thirteen male and Nine female participants from Kolkata, Asansol, Jalpaiguri, Bardhaman, Guwahati, Bongaigaon and Silchar took part in this competetion.

Dibyendu Chakraborty won the first prize in men�s category while Bidhan Bhattacharjee and Kamalendu Roy secured the second and third prize respectively. In the women�s category, Arundhati Brahmachari clinched the first prize. Manjul Srivastava and Arundhati Dey were the second and third prize winners.

BK Tripati, Regional Manager (B&AC) from LICI, Eastern Zonal Office, Kolkata was the chief guest on the closing ceremony. D P Banerjee, senior divisional manager of Silchar Divisional Office released a brochure on the occasion. He handed over the mementoes to the participants.

Meanwhile, the Cachar District Chess Association extended co-operation in conducting the competition. Jaydeep Nag, Pritam Nath and Priyanka Nag from the Cachar District Chess Association were present as Arbiters competition.
