GUWAHATI, Oct 9 - A general meeting of the Guwahati Division LIC Agents� Association of India was held at hotel Rodali Residency here at Paltan Bazar on October 3, a press release stated.

The meeting on the occasion was presided over by the association�s zonal member Debasish Sanyal and participated in by zonal secretary Manoranjan Sarker, besides all-India secretariat members Jayanta Basu, Tapas Mukherjee and All India Insurance Employees� Association vice president Satanjib Das, Bhaben Kalita, KP Das and Rahul Das of Bongaigaon Division.

The meeting constituted a 21-member committee with Debasish Sanyal as president and Nagen Baishya as general secretary. The meeting demanded abolition of service tax imposed on the agents, to amend the decision on 49 percent FDI in the insurance sector, besides introduction of short-term insurance schemes, the release added.
