Letter to Police Commissioner over assault

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, July 27 - Secretary of Pratibandhi Suraksha Sangstha, Assam, Nripen Malakar today moved the Commissioner of Police, Guwahati demanding stern action against the police personnel who had brutally beaten up a differently-abled boy on charges of violating the lockdown norms at Bharalumukh here on July 23.

In a letter to the Commissioner of Police, Malakar also demanded an investigation against all the other police personnel and officers who were present on the spot and remained mute spectators to the act of cruelty, and subsequent action accordingly.

As a punitive action against the act of cruelty, the police department has already suspended the policeman who had allegedly beaten up the boy. But Malakar alleged that suspension of just one policeman would not help the victim recover from the mental trauma.
